Retired professor Stephen Higley has completed an urban study that has identified the "Golden Triangle" neighborhood bounded by North Street on the east, Round Hill Road on the west and the Merritt Parkway on the north in Greenwich, Connecticut, as the highest income neighborhood in the country. Greenwich's "Golden Triangle" -- a wedge of land bounded by North Street on the East, Round Hill Road on the West and the Merritt Parkway on the north -- is the nation's wealthiest neighborhood, according to a new analysis that tallied up the top 1, richest spots across the nation.
In total, 56 Connecticut communities made the top 1, with Greenwich ing for 14 of those communities. The small towns of Wilton, Westport and New Canaan tied for having the second most communities in the top 1, with seven neighborhoods each. Parts of Stamford, Fairfield, Ridgefield, Darien, Weston and Norwalk also made the list, where only two of the Connecticut communities to earn a spot were located somewhere other than Fairfield County.
The analysis was completed by Stephen Higleya professor emeritus of urban geography at the University of Montevallo in Alabama, who spent two-and-a-half years crunching Census data to determine which of America's communities have the highest concentration of wealth. With more than one in 20 neighborhoods haling from Connecticut, the Nutmeg States concentration is about twice as high as the national average. To come up with the boundaries between neighborhoods, Higley grouped together neighboring census block groups -- the smallest slice of the population the census drills down to -- into clusters that made sense.
The golden triangle, for instance, is a combination of three census block groups. Yeah," he said.
Through this variation in his analysis, Higgins was better able to differentiate the amount of wealth among top-tier residents. In-Depth Coverage. CT school where weight-loss camp was held terminates contract.
